Alexander Lakernik, the techinical controller in Ladies Free Skating in Sochi Olmypics and the past vice president of the Figure Skating Federation of Russia spoke about the recent accusations of biased judgment.

In an interview with the United States' Chicago Tribune on February 22 (Korean Time), he assertively said "I'm not hiding anything."

The controversy in question is related to the results of Ladies Figure Skating in 2014 Sochi Winter Olmypics. 

The Olmypic defending champion, Yuna Kim, skated a perfect performance and recieved a relatively low score of 144.19 in the Free Skate, while the host country's Adelina Sotnikova recieved a staggering 149.95 and won the gold medal with the total score of 224.59.

The world was taken over with controversy. Many countries excluding Russia voiced that Sotnikova won the gold medal with "home advantage".

In fact, in the free skate, 4 out of the 9 judges were from countries of close ties to Russia - Ukraine, Estonia, Slovakia. The other 5 were from Germany, Canada, Italy and Japan. Judges from the United States, Sweden and Korea from the short program were not selected to participate in the free skate.

The controversy grew hotter when it was revealed that the technical controller was a past vice president of the Figure Skating Federation of Russia, Alexander Lakernik. The technical panel is made up of 3 people and reviews the executions of the skaters to decide the base values. This is a critical part of the total score, and the fact that Lakernik was in charge of the technical panel who gets the final say makes it harder to dismiss questions of bias.

여자싱글 결과는 전 세계적으로 큰 논란을 야기했다. 러시아를 제외한 대부분의 국가가 소트니코바는 '홈 텃세'의 혜택으로 금메달을 획득했다고 목소리를 모았다.

실제로 이번 프리스케이팅 판정을 맡은 심판 9명 중 4명은 러시아와 가까운 국가인 우크라이나, 에스토니아, 슬로바키아 출신이다. 나머지 심판 5명의 국적은 독일, 캐나다, 이탈리아, 일본이었다. 미국과 영국, 스웨덴, 한국 출신 심판은 쇼트프로그램에서는 판정에 참여했지만 프리스케이팅에서는 추첨에 의해 배당받지 못했다.

또 "만약 정말 스케이트를 훌륭하게 탔다면 점수도 훌륭하게 받게 된다. 소트니코바는 명백히 그녀 인생에서 가장 훌륭한 연기를 펼쳤다"고 두둔했다.
